What is BULK MIDMEKI?
BULK MIDMEKI is a food X-ray inspection system manufactured by Mekitec for unpackaged bulk products such as nuts, dried fruit, seeds and vegetables. It inspects the product stream for foreign material, uses feeding and handling engineered for the process, and includes an automatic reject system.
Bulk-inspection performance is application-specific. Mekitec confirms it using the actual product, target foreign materials, bed depth, feed stability, throughput and reject timing.
X-Ray Inspection System for Bulk Production
The BULK MIDMEKI model extends Mekitec X-ray inspection to bulk food applications. It lets food producers inspect raw materials and unpackaged products for foreign material before final packaging.
The BULK system is designed for the inspection of unpackaged bulk products such as nuts, dried fruits, seeds, and vegetables. Its product feed and handling can be tailored to fit the production process and requirements of the application.
Food X-ray inspection and quality-control functions
Foreign-object detection
The system creates an X-ray image and can be configured to detect foreign objects made of materials that create sufficient X-ray contrast, including metal, stone, glass, calcified bone and some dense plastics. Detectability depends on the object's material, size, shape, orientation and location as well as the food, package and line conditions.
MEKI AI quality checks
With MEKI AI, the system detects foreign objects and organic-material contamination in the unpackaged bulk-product stream. Quality checks and detection functions are validated for the actual product, target foreign materials, bed depth, feed stability and throughput during application engineering.

How it works
Unpackaged food is presented as a controlled product bed or stream. The system evaluates the X-ray image, and the automatic reject system removes material classified for rejection from the product flow.
