What is MEKI ONE?
MEKI ONE is a compact conveyorized food X-ray inspection system manufactured by Mekitec for primary packaged food. It inspects packaged products for foreign objects and combines inspection, automatic rejection, a reject bin, standard reject confirmation and production reporting in one frame.
Detection performance is application-specific. Mekitec confirms it by testing the actual food, package, target foreign materials, line conditions and reject configuration.
All you need in ONE
MEKI™ ONE brings the functions of a Critical Control Point together in one compact package. The ONE concept combines X-ray inspection with the features expected by global quality standards, such as integrated automatic reject, rejection bin, confirmation sensors, and system reporting.
MEKI™ ONE is designed to make it straightforward for food producers to introduce food X-ray quality control to a packaging line.
Food X-ray inspection and quality-control functions
Foreign-object detection
The system creates an X-ray image and can be configured to detect foreign objects made of materials that create sufficient X-ray contrast, including metal, stone, glass, calcified bone and some dense plastics. Detectability depends on the object's material, size, shape, orientation and location as well as the food, package and line conditions.
MEKI AI quality checks
With MEKI AI, relevant quality checks will include counting and filling, missing or excess product, seal inspection, clip inspection, cavern detection and organic-material detection. Fill-level and cap inspection are used where the product and package geometry make those functions relevant.

How it works
A packaged product enters the inspection zone and the system creates an X-ray image. The configured recipe evaluates the image, and a product classified for rejection is removed by the integrated reject system. Standard reject confirmation verifies the reject event.
Customer evidence
Snackwerks installed its first MEKI ONE in 2021 and had expanded to three systems by 2026. In April 2026, all three passed documented product validation under the tested product and package conditions.

Questions and answers
Can MEKI ONE inspect food in metallized packaging?
Yes. X-ray inspection evaluates differences in X-ray absorption rather than the electromagnetic response used by a metal detector, so metallized packaging can be inspected. Detection performance must still be validated with the actual food and package.
What is included in the MEKI ONE control point?
The published configuration combines X-ray inspection, integrated automatic rejection, a reject bin, standard reject confirmation and production reporting in one frame. Final conveyor and option selections are application-specific.

Key Features
Integrated inspection control point
X-ray inspection, automatic rejection, reject containment, standard reject confirmation and reporting are combined in one configured frame.
Defined primary-package envelope
Product fit is checked against the height-dependent envelope rather than a misleading fixed rectangle.
Configurable conveyor and reject options
Published options include one- or two-conveyor operation, push-arm rejection, hand sensors and complete reject confirmation.
Role in a complete X-ray CCP
MEKI ONE supports the physical equipment layer of a complete X-ray Critical Control Point (CCP): inspect, reject, isolate, confirm and report. It does not by itself complete the CCP.
